Rankings count active job postings classified as ESG, climate, or sustainability roles - a role qualifies when its category and tags map to one of our curated ESG areas; purely functional roles (sales, HR, IT) are excluded. Companies are counted by brand (a parent and its subsidiaries count once). A role can be relevant to more than one area, so per-category totals can exceed the headline total. “Dedicated ESG employers” are curated pure-play climate and sustainability companies (their entire business is ESG); broader enterprises hiring for ESG appear on the all-employers board. Ties break alphabetically. The index is recomputed every night and snapshotted monthly.
