Smart electrical panels that give homeowners circuit-level energy control for solar, batteries, EVs, and heat pumps

SPAN makes a smart electrical panel that replaces the standard home breaker box with a connected device giving homeowners real-time visibility and control down to the individual circuit and appliance level. The panel works with home battery systems, rooftop solar, EV chargers, heat pumps, and other high-draw appliances. SPAN also makes SPAN Drive, a Level 2 EV charger, and SPAN Edge, a gateway device for utilities.

Why it matters

The residential electrical panel is the chokepoint for home electrification. SPAN's hardware and software let homes run more effectively on solar and battery storage - extending backup battery life by managing load priorities automatically - and allow homeowners to add EVs, heat pumps, and induction stoves without triggering costly grid-connection upgrades (estimated to affect 17-20 million US homes). By making it cheaper and easier to electrify home energy use, SPAN directly supports the shift away from fossil-fuel appliances and grid dependence.

SPAN sells through electricians, solar installers, HVAC contractors, builders, and utility partners, and its panels carry UL 1741 PCS certification for use as a power control system alongside battery storage.
