Job description

Ambrook helps American family-run businesses become more profitable and resilient.
From volatile markets to climate shifts, independent operators face mounting pressure. While sustainable investments often yield the best long-term returns, they require financial clarity and capital that fragmented legacy systems can’t provide.

We are rebuilding the financial infrastructure that real economy operators rely on. By replacing paperwork with modern tools for accounting, banking, and spending, Ambrook gives owners the data they need to prove viability to lenders and the next generation. We empower the stewards of land and labor to make confident investments in their future.

We’re a Series B startup backed by Lachy Groom, Thrive Capital, Dylan Field, Thomson Reuters Ventures, Cameron Ventures, and leaders at Notion, Gusto, and Vercel. We’re looking for team members to help us untangle the intersection of American industry, climate, and the economy.

The role

You’ll run programs across Ambrook: placemaking, events, tech enablement, design program management, research, and special projects. You’ll spot what the team needs, build systems that work across functions, and run the creative projects that make teammates and customers feel taken care of.

You’ll lead placemaking for our San Francisco office. You’ll report to our co-founder and Head of Product Dan Schlosser and drive programs across the company. Some of your projects will span all three offices and our distributed team.

You’ll run several programs at once, and that range is a big part of the appeal. You’ll see how every part of a company works, find the work you enjoy most, and lean into it. Your scope grows across functions as you build trust by keeping things moving.

You’ll have an amazing counterpart in Crystal Luo, who runs programs from the New York office today, and an incoming counterpart in Denver.

Note: this role takes many forms in different companies, so if you think there's a more apt job title for these responsibilities and your career goals, let's talk about it during the interview process!

What you’ll do

Craft shows up across this role: a personal touch on a candidate’s onsite, the first batch of Ambrook sweaters, scouting our next office, or visiting customers to bring that same care to the people who run the real economy.

  • Own placemaking in the SF office. Make it a place teammates enjoy working from and where San Francisco's builders, designers, and operators can meet us. Run the small rituals that help teammates know each other, and handle the guests, vendors, supplies, equipment, and access behind it.

  • Partner with founders on special projects. Work with Dan to pick up whatever matters most that month and see it through: prepare for key meetings and hires, run special projects end to end, and drive decisions to done. You’ll get a bird’s-eye view of how a company runs and grows.

  • Shape how customers and candidates meet Ambrook. Recruit customers for research sessions and product pilots, and plan and join trips to see them around the region, from South Bay garlic farms to producers in the hills of Petaluma, plus visits across the country. Run local candidate onsites and organize portfolio reviews from invite to follow-up.

  • Catalyze community with events. We want Ambrook to be one of the places where engineers, operators, and founders meet to share what they’re learning. Plan coffees, intimate dinners, and meetups around the metro area, along with company activations across offices, and curate the guests and topics so each one is worth showing up for.

  • Improve tech enablement. Work with department managers and the other program managers on how teammates get access to the tools they need, from onboarding and offboarding to rolling out new software and AI tools. Write down what works so it holds up as we grow.

  • Create AI systems where things keep breaking. When a process trips people up repeatedly, pause and rebuild it.

About you

  • You’ve spent 1 to 8 years in roles like operations, recruiting, hospitality, or production.

  • You’re hospitable and care about craft, from noticing what a guest needs before they ask to the content of an event invite and the interior design of our space.

  • Friction bothers you. You’d rather spend an afternoon improving a system than work around a broken one for months.

  • You’re good with tools. You can set up a new hire’s accounts, fix a conference room, and use AI to save time on recurring work.

  • You know talented people in key SF circles: tech, startups, design, research, and industry. You’re curious and have great stories to show for it.

Details

  • Full-time, based in our SF office in the Mission, at least 4 days a week.

  • Reports to Dan Schlosser, co-founder and Head of Product.

  • Health insurance, 401(k) match, paid parental leave, flexible vacation, and wellness and learning stipends.
