Business Unit Overview:

Global Product Solutions (GPS) and Sustainable & Transition Solutions (STS)

BlackRock's Global Product Solution (GPS) strives to catalyze firm growth by creating an effective and efficient product and solutions platform for our clients, managing a transparent and disciplined product development process from ideation through implementation, and accelerating our business across vehicle types, including our Sustainable and Transition product offering.

Within GPS, the STS team leads BlackRock's sustainability and transition strategy by driving cross-functional change, supporting client and external engagement, powering product ideation and embedding sustainability expertise across the firm.

The GPS Sustainable & Transition Platform Strategy & Governance team is responsible for driving the product strategy and overseeing regulatory, governance, and policy initiatives across our Sustainable & Transition platform, covering our active and index offering globally. The team reports to the GPS COO and the Global Head of Sustainable & Transition Solutions (STS) and partners with regional GPS product teams, PMG, GCB and GAPP, among others, to deliver products and solutions for our clients where sustainability and the transition to a low carbon economy remain critical investment objectives amidst a complex regulatory environment.

Job overview

A core part of delivering our Sustainable and Transition product strategy is identifying emerging trends, new themes and the evolution of best practice in the dynamic and complex sustainable investing landscape. The GPS S&T Platform Strategy & Governance team is looking for a Vice President in EMEA to work on market intelligence, deliver competitor analysis, translate client views into actionable product development insights, support platform governance and oversight initiatives, and contribute to product-related policy work.

The successful candidate will possess a knowledge of the EMEA cross border fund marketplace, regulation, sustainable investing and sustainable portfolio construction across index and active asset classes. Additionally, the candidate must have experience at desk research and excellent project management and communication skills (written and verbal).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of market activity and collate information on an ongoing basis on competitor sustainable and transition product development and innovation as well as firm-level commitments to help inform product strategy and brief senior executives.
  • Connect with STS Client Engagement leads and Global Client Group to identify emerging client needs in sustainable and transition investing.
  • Work with PMG, RQA, L&C to help deliver a successful and effective sustainable and transition product governance framework that works globally.
  • Determine and monitor the commercial case for European sustainable fund labels and coordinate with investment teams, product strategists, the Client Business and Country Management on delivering labels for our sustainable and transition products.
  • Work with GPS COO teams to implement any new and/or changing regulatory requirements or any changes to BlackRock's own product governance.
  • Support the GPS S&T Product Strategy & Governance team on ad hoc initiatives, regulatory driven or otherwise relevant to our product platform.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience working in a research, market intelligence, or product strategy and development role within asset management or financial services.
  • Commercial awareness of market dynamics, market evolution and of the competitor landscape to ensure our own products are well positioned.
  • Ability to execute across teams and drive projects with input and feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the sustainability regulatory landscape.
  • Experience with working with large datasets and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior leaders and distil complex information into concrete and actionable insights.
  • Detail and task oriented; able to successfully coordinate and manage multiple projects and priorities in a cross-functional team environment. Strong prioritization skills with ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of and exposure to BlackRock's range of sustainable and transition products preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; knowledge of additional European languages (e.g., French, German) is a plus.
