Job description

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation's Renewables & Sustainable Energy (RSE) team is looking to hire a Director for originating and executing structured finance transactions (including acquisition finance/high yield transactions) within the sector across Asia. The RSE team provides arranging and advisory solutions to clients across various asset classes like BESS, Solar, Wind, Offshore Wind, Gas Power, LNG to Power, Geothermal, Hydro, Transmission amongst others with increasing focus on ESG related business and energy transition including new energies.

Key Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Deal origination:
    • Maintain close relationship with clients and develop new relationships
    • Take responsibility in covering certain geography and identify new opportunities across the region
    • Prepare financial proposals including term sheets and/or presentations
    • Identity and monitor market developments and opportunities
    • Liaise with various internal, external stakeholders (banks, advisors, legal firms etc.) and clients as necessary
  • Deal execution:
    • Review/Preparation of credit paper and other related materials
    • Lead the documentation process with support from internal and external legal counsel
    • Review financial models and guide junior staff on the same
    • Oversee completion of all aspects of loan administration and execution until drawdown
    • Lead advisory mandates when selected and prepare materials for client with regards to transaction structuring, risk analysis amongst others
    • Lead the negotiation process on deals
    • Guide junior members on origination and execution process

Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • At least 11+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in project / structured / acquisition finance
  • Work experience in the Energy and Infrastructure space with direct experience in Renewable energy
  • Good understanding of loan documentation
  • Good transaction structuring skills and understanding of credit process
  • Financial modelling skills
  • Ability to work independently on jobs assigned
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior members
  • Positive personality with strong work ethics
  • Independent, self-motivated and strong team player with ability to work in multicultural team
